Finding that modern versions of the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary did not move my heart, and knowing how much I loved the Ave, Maris Stella hymn as indulgenced by Pope Leo XIII in 1888, I searched through many editions of the Little Office hoping to find the same version used at Vespers.
I finally found this Baronius Press edition (copyright 2007; published in 2022), and it contains virtually the exact version I had been searching for, differing by only a word or two. My hunch was correct. Just as I love this version of the Ave, Maris Stella, I also love the entire book. The language flows beautifully, and the prayers move the heart.
When I ordered the book, the description stated that it was leather. To be honest, I was skeptical because many companies use terms such as “leather-like” or other wording that can be misleading. However, the moment I opened the package and smelled the cover, I knew it was genuine leather. The binding is also excellent—as well made as one could hope for. I am very pleased with this edition.
